The APPT has created a whole new dimension of poker in Asia, marking its emergence as a truly global sport. Sponsored by PokerStars.net, the tour will provide poker enthusiasts with the chance to test their skills against some of the world's best players in the most glamorous of Asia Pacific destinations. APPT SEASON 5 (2011) APPT arrived in Melbourne back in July 14 - Aug 1, 2011, a total of 260 players turned out to pay the AUD $5,000 entry fee main event, to try and grab their chance of getting themselves on the big stage and taking home the exclusive trophy along with a winners cheque, the total prize pool for the event stood at AUD $1,222,000, so the winners cheque would be a staggering AUD $330,000, and the overall winner was Leo Boxell (pictured below), Australian Boxell is a regular on the APPT and has had some good finishes so his win was well applauded. It was a great finish to an amazing week in Queenstown, with Germany's Marcel Schreiner (pictured below) defeating New Zealand's Matty Yates in one of the most intense heads-up battles in APPT history to win his first major career title and NZ$94,600 in prize money. Schreiner was chip leader on day one, day two, day three and finally he emerged triumphant today in a dominant display on the felt of the SKYCITY Queenstown Casino, With the victory very well received.
